Life Story for George Infante
The family of George K. Infante of Glens Falls, NY (formerly of Plattsburgh) sadly announces his passing on October 1st, 2008 as a result of his long battle with Cancer. George was born in Plattsburgh, NY on November 17, 1949, the first son of Lawrence J. Infante Jr. and Gertrude E. Mead-Infante. George was a 1967 graduate of Beekmantown Central School, where he excelled in math, science and music. George was a Vietnam era veteran serving his country in the United States Navy as a communications specialist in Italy. After returning home from the Navy, George graduated from Clinton Community College (CCC) in 1976 with his associate’s degree in Liberal Arts. George also attended SUNY Plattsburgh and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
George was an avid reader, chess player and very accomplished musician playing the flute, clarinet, alto and tenor saxophones, piano and organ. In 1975, George received the First Annual Chess Award from CCC. George also received regional and national honor awards in music composition at the 1984 Veteran’s Administration Music Festival. George enjoyed playing jazz piano, organ, saxophone and flute with Plattsburgh and Albuquerque area musicians. George also loved spending time with family and friends. Everyone that knew George loved his wit and humor.
George is pre-deceased by his sister Patricia Ann and his father Lawrence J. Infante Jr.
Survivors include his mother, Gertrude Mead-Infante of Watervliet, NY, brothers Terry Infante of Glens Falls, NY, Lawrence J. Infante III of Plattsburgh, NY, Lindsay Infante and his wife Angela of Delta, OH, Eric Infante and his wife Sally of Greenwich, NY, and Kyle Infante and Diane Burkhart of Bolton Landing, NY. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins all survive him.
Calling hours will be at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh, NY, on Friday, October 3, from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in George’s memory at St. John’s Church, Broad Street, Plattsburgh, NY on Saturday, October 4th at 12 noon. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s cemetery.
