Doris V. Barcomb, 94, of Altona, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Twin Oaks, Station Street, Altona.
Doris was born in Altona on December 30, 1925, the daughter of James and Emma (LaBarge) Boyea.
Doris married the love of her life, Casper Barcomb, on August 23, 1952 at Holy Angels Church by Rev Patrick Thompson. Together they had 56 loving years. She was a devout catholic and communicant of Holy Angels Church.
Doris had a zest for life, strong independent spirit, and tender heart. Her faith, her love of family, and her strong ties to the community kept her happy and active. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and nana, and friend to all that knew her. Over the years she loved family gatherings, traveling, shopping, gardening, crocheting, crafts, and baking. Treating everyone with her double fudge fantasy brownies was a must.
Doris retired after 22 years of service with CVPH in 1989. Previous to that she was employed many years at the Mooers Footware Company till its closure. She was a founding member of the Altona Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and past member of the Altona Rockside Senior Citizen Club.
Left to cherish her memory, her daughter, Shelly Toohill and her husband, John, a grandson, Jesse Toohill and his wife Jennifer, her brother; Curtis Boyea and his wife Rebecca, her sister-in-law, Mary Boyea, and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Doris is predeceased by Casper, her husband, her parents, her siblings, Olga (Ralph) LaPierre, Pearl (Leonard) Lashway, Douglas Boyea and infant sister Veronica.
Calling hours will be Sunday, August 16, 2020 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at Brown Funeral Home, 3123 Miner Farm Road, Altona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 17, 2020 at 10:30 AM from Holy Angels Church in Altona. Burial will follow in Holy Angel's Cemetery in Altona.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to Dr Maurice Racine and staff, and all of Doris's neighbors and caregivers over the years for their dedication, generosity, and kindness.
