Douglas C Dumont, 77, of Plattsburgh died Friday, May 29 at Elizabethtown Community Hospital with his family by his side.
Doug was born in Plattsburgh April 9, 1943 to Charles and Marion (Cormier) Dumont. He was a committed public servant in his career at Sunmount DDSO, where he worked for over 20 years. Doug was also a dedicated progressive activist throughout his life and was proud to have marched with the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. during the civil rights movement. He was known for his good humor and storytelling ability, he enjoyed trivia, horse races, history, and was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Yankees and San Francisco 49ers. He was an avid lover of the dogs in his life including Jocko, Claudia, Snowball, Yo-Yo, and Molly.
Doug was beloved by his family and will be deeply missed. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Russell, who he regarded as his best friend, and his grandmother Rose Cormier, with whom he was very close. He is survived by his sister and brother in law Rosemary (Dumont) and Jim Meese, his sister-in-law Sandra (Cudworth) Dumont, and his brother and sister-in-law John and (Gail) Viola (Guy). He is also survived by his niece and goddaughter (Beano) Charlene (Dumont) Tromblee, her husband Willis Tromblee, and their children Riley and Aiden, his nephew (his buddy) Kenneth Meese, nieces Jennifer (Dumont) Howery and son Wesley Howery, and Lisa (Dumont) Eddy and daughter Jessica (Eddy) Abbiati. Doug is also survived by cousins, many friends, and a very dear friend Linda Morrell.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be planned for later this summer.
