He was the beloved husband of Joan (Stephenson) Kurz for 68 years. Born in Mineola, NY, on Oct. 18, 1932, son of the late George F. He played professional baseball for the St. Jean Quebec Pirates, a Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate. He played fast-pitch softball for years and was a fixture at the Annual AuSable Forks Fast-Pitch Tournament. George touched the lives of many young athletes in so many a longtime high school basketball official, a coach and mentor, and as a local sports enthusiast.
