Sheila Bond, 61 of Plattsburgh returned home to the arms of a loving God on August 20th at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Sheila was born in Plattsburgh September 26, 1958, the daughter of the late Malcolm and Joyce Gilroy of Dannemora.

She is predeceased in death by her mother, Joyce, father Malcolm, and brother Brian.

Sheila is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Donald, daughter Lauren (Peter) Grugle, son, Brent, sister, Karen Everleth, two grandchildren, Graham and Lilah, Uncle Roger (Sue) McKinney, numerous brother in-laws, sister - in -laws, nieces and nephews, and of course her fur babies.

Sheila impacted everyone who met her, even if it was only once. Her outgoing, inviting personality and infectious smile drew everyone in. She will be remembered as a remarkable fighter who gave everything she had for her family until her final breath.

She was an incredible Mima who was completely adored by her grandchildren. Sheila loved birding, taking beautiful photographs of birds and nature, and her Friday coffee dates with her best pal. She was a friend to all animals, especially her backyard buddies. She had a song for every occasion, even if it was one she came up with on the spot, always a witty remark in her back pocket, and was never afraid to shake her groove thing. Sheila was truly loved by all and is already so sorely missed.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday August 22, 2020 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 24, 2020 at 9:00 am at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh, burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

My heart breaks for Sheila’s family. We graduated together and camped at Ausable Point campsite where I will always cherish our fun times!!! Sheila was always full of fun, mischief and good times! Even though it has been over 35 years since I have seen her, I will miss her smile and our Facebook connections. May Sheila have as much fun in heaven as she did here on this earth🥰🥰

So very sad to hear this news. Sheila and I are cousins who met via Ancestry. She fondly remembered my parents; I fondly remembered her parents. But she and I had never met. We will finally have that meeting that heaven. But we kept in touch via text and Facebook. My deepest sympathies to her beloved family - I admired her prodigious love for all of you, her terrific photographic skills, and many, many other traits. Soar high, dear cousin - till we finally meet.

Sheila was one of the first people I met when I moved to Cadyville for my senior year in 1975. . It’s hard enough to make that move but in your senior year not knowing anybody. Sheila became my friend immediately and was so kind and took me under her wing and made me feel comfortable . She had an infectious smile and wonderful sense of humor . My thoughts and prayers are with her family .
