Susan Post died in her sleep November 16th, 2020, at her home in Cliff Haven. Born October 24, 1945, she graduated from OLVA in 1963 and taught cosmetology at BOCES in Mineville. Within a few years, she became owner/operator of her own salon, Classic Cuts, on Court Street in Plattsburgh. Over the decades of serving dedicated customers many became dear friends. She retired and volunteered at CVPH from 2013 up until a few weeks before her passing. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter, Erin, and in recent years visited the Czech Republic, Italy, England and Iceland. She often visited her son, Jeff, in Tampa Fla., where she spoiled her “grand-dogs” and enjoyed her go-to spot, Frenchy’s on the Beach. As a diehard Tampa Bay Lightning fan, she loved cheering on her favorite hockey team in their home arena. Sue grew up in a large family that has remained close. Sue had a special bond with her older sister, Linda. Their Monday phone calls to catch up and solve the world’s problems were legendary within the family.
Sue was predeceased her husband, Maj. Robert Post, and her parents, Mildred and Clarence Desrocher. She is survived by her son, Jeff Dumas, of Largo, Fla.; her daughter, Erin Post, of Burlington, Vt.; brother, Jim Desrocher and Karen of Saratoga, N.Y.; sister Linda Cirotta of Bristol, Tenn.; brother John Desrocher and Jackie of Hallock Hill and brother Randy Desrocher and Kim of Plattsburgh, N.Y. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews from Plattsburgh to Bristol. She will be deeply missed by her grand pups Benjamin, Chauncey and Dusty.
In lieu of flowers please consider contributing to the Elmore SPCA in her name to celebrate Sue’s love of dogs. Visit

Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. Plattsburgh, NY. Online condolences may be offered at

I am so, so sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom. My deepest sympathies. Sue cut my hair for decades, we would talk about "politics", she was looking for that remote island. We always talked about our children, their latest adventures and other fun stories about Jeff and Erin. I will truly MISS her!!! Again, my condolences. Sandra Marland
